First Impression: The essay probably talks about how big businesses will abuse the power of artificial intelligence and soon compete with one another through compromising the ethics of artificial intelligence.
Quote: “Ethical AI can only be guaranteed by ethical business practices.”
Reflection:
Reading the article, it is amazing how the author has passed different points of technology, and being able to compare it to the current state of technology today is very mind boggling. In just thirty years, technology has made a huge leap from fat television sets to an all in one flat screen television. Imagine what is to come in the next thirty years. Surely better than what the author of the essay experienced. And with the development of artificial intelligence, this would speed up the evolution of technology. But it all comes to the people who fund these ideas. The questions that come to mind when thinking of the big businesses that fund these technologies are “Are they doing this for the good of all and improve the quality of life? Or are they doing this just for monetary income?”. The latter takes much more of a utilitarian approach and has good intent, since they are doing it for the good of all. This would be great since everyone will benefit, but when greed comes into place, the story changes. These companies would not care about if it would benefit the people or not, they are just doing so because they get good money out of it. But it does not end there since there is still ethics in people who develop these technologies. They should be able to determine if what they will be creating is ethical or not. But that also depends on them if they are doing it with good intent or not. They have the power to say no and fight back since they do not think it is the right thing to do.

-
As many as 15 percent of Twitter accounts are run by bots.
-
Companies are using bots to influence people through posts on social media.
